A World-First in Sustainable Cake Design

Something extraordinary is blooming at this year’s Cake International — quite literally. 🌸
For the first time ever, visitors will see a wedding cake tier that grows into wildflowers. The BLOOMbase, created by sustainable design brand Made With Flower, is the world’s first flowering cake base — a compostable, seed-embedded alternative to the traditional polystyrene “dummy” tiers used in thousands of celebration cakes every year.
Used in place of a cake dummy, the patent-pending BLOOMbase can be planted after use, creating a living legacy that helps support bees and promote biodiversity. It’s a simple idea that’s set to transform the way eco-minded cake professional and conscious couples think about cake design — proving that sustainability and show-stopping style can beautifully coexist.
Visitors to this year’s show will be the first in the world to see the innovation up close. The Made With Flower installation at Stand B14 will feature a dramatic art display and an interactive photo booth experience designed for social sharing. It’s a perfect example of the creativity and innovation that Cake International is proud to showcase.
Founded by Zoe Bayliss Wong, a Forbes 30 Under 30 sustainability entrepreneur, Made With Flower brings an entirely new perspective to the world of cake artistry. “We live in a world that loves the perfect Instagram moment but we’re also more conscious than ever about plastic waste and sustainability.” says Zoe, “The modern cake world is full of beauty and imagination and I wanted to create something that is both photo-ready and planet-positive.”
Don’t miss this first-of-its-kind feature when Cake International returns to the NEC Birmingham from 31 October – 2 November 2025. Come and see how style, sustainability and celebration can truly bloom together. 🌿
