Friday 3rd November

Karen Portaleo

Karen Portaleo Masterclass

£270 per person (Full Day, 11am - 6pm)
Cake International Workshop Area in Hall 17
Includes entry to the show

In this education and skills based class, Karen will teach proper facial structure, starting with the most important feature to understand when sculpting the face: the skull. She will also share some basic and reliable measurements to help create symmetry and realism. Without understanding how the skull and proper proportion determines feature placement, our sculpted faces will never look correct. The class will learn some of the clues we sculpt (sometimes without meaning to) that make our faces look older or too masculine/feminine. Each student will sculpt a face in class from modeling chocolate, using these lessons. Karen will then demonstrate how age and gravity change the face by "aging" her demonstration piece. Students may chose to use the aging technique as a demonstration, or to sculpt the aging process on their pieces.
